Post op day 21 ~ Today marks 3 weeks since Courtneys Heart and Liver Transplant! We have so much to be thankful for!! We have come a long way in just 21 days. The last week or so she has made Amazing strides. We went from 11 to 12 IV drips to just 2 drips now, occasionally only one, which is her blood thinner for the blood clot in her arm. The other is to help treat her low blood pressure after dialysis. Other than those two things she is doing great! The pics show how very ill she was and all the equipment they needed to keep her alive in the first few days, and then the pump she has now with only 2 IV meds along with her oral medications! We are so very Blessed!! The doctors are so pleased with her progress. The other two patients that had this same surgery had a much rockier road so we are very Blessed that we are heading in the right direction in just 21 days. Courtney will be here for a few more weeks for rehabilitation and to get her eating again Hopefully they will give her a swallow test in the next day or two. If she passes it we can begin to introduce liquid. It is such a Miracle that they can take two organs form a person whose body was already in stress from death and then turn around and transplant them into someone who has had Congenital Heart disease for 32 years, as well as 5 heart surgeries, and that the new organs can take over and beat so strong and healthy in just 21 days! It is truly a Miracle to behold! Prayers work and God listens!!
