Post op day 35 ~ Courtney has been in procedures all day. Her first procedure was to remove her dialysis catheter! She is officially done with dialysis and her kidneys are fully functioning and removing toxins!! Praise God for this. They told us that it could take several weeks or months. They began functioning at only 4 weeks! She then went to xray to determine her persistent consolidation (fluid) in her lungs. She is now in MRI to image her abdomen. 2 weeks ago, after a liver biopsy, they found a mass and a hematoma in her abdomen on a CT scan. They are doing a follow up now to see if it resolved on its own and if not, exactly what it is. She will also have an Echocardiogram of her heart today to check heart function. We are expecting that it will still show a good heart function. She is such a trooper and has been through so much. I hate days when she has to go through all of this and be sedated. She got quite upset last night when she recalled some of the things she went through in the ICU and how she felt emotionally during that time. I pray today that all the test results are favorable and that she will continue to heal both physically and emotionally. Her transplant meds are at a very high dose right now and make her quite nauseous. We are still trying to get her to eat. She still has multiple staples in her chest and abdomen incisions. We are hoping those will come out this week or next week. We are also hopeful by the end of this week she will qualify to go to the Rehab floor. She needs to be able to do 3 hours of therapy per day to qualify. We are still a ways from that but she tries her hardest every day because she says she just wants to get home. So proud of her and her ability not to let anyhing break her Spirit. #strongestpersoniknow #ourhero #feelingblessedeveryday #sothankfulforthisgiftoflife
