Postdoc in vision/optimization/learning at Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan One or two full-time postdoctoral Junior Researcher position is available at the Computer Vision and Pattern Analysis Lab in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan. ( hi.cs.waseda.ac.jp/index.php/en/ ) The applicant should hold a PhD in computer science, mathematics, or related field by the time s/he starts, with a research focus on at least one of optimization, computer vision, machine learning, neural network, or related areas. The successful candidate will help in the investigation of new optimization and learning algorithms, especially of random fields, application of such algorithms to computer vision and medical image analysis, or investigation of their relation with deep neural network. The lab is basic-research oriented and aims at publishing at top conferences and journals. There are no mandatory teaching or administrative duties, but the successful candidate is expected to engage and collaborate with students and other researchers in the lab. The expected starting date is April 1st, 2015, but it is flexible. The position is for a five-year project on random fields and deep learning, starting in April 2015, and can last for the duration of the project, subject to the candidates performance, with yearly renewal. Depending on the experience and the merit, the title of Assistant Professor may be conferred upon the successful candidate, after an evaluation by a committee.
