Postdoctoral Researcher Job Within the framework of the Institute for Energy Transition P.I.V.E.R.T (Picardy Plant Innovations, Teaching and Technological Research), the SAS PIVERT and the University of Technology of Compiègne (UTC) recruit a Postdoctoral Researcher. Title- Subject: Advanced Data Mining Approach under Data Uncertainty for Predicting the Relationships between Molecule Characteristics, Physicochemical Properties and Structural Descriptors Duration: Under limited-term contract - a period of 18 months. (Starting date: January 1st 2015 but this date could be adapted) Monthly gross salary: ~ 2500 euros Host Laboratory: University of Technology of Compiègne, CNRS UMR 7338 Biomechanics and Bioengineering, Centre de Recherches de Royallieu, Rue Personne de Roberval, 60200 Compiègne Supervisor: Dr. Tien-Tuan Dao ([email protected]) Keywords: Data Uncertainty, Uncertainty Quantification (UQ), Data Mining, Predictive Model, Molecule, Physicochemical Properties, Structural Descriptors. Scientific context: The ITE P.I.V.E.R.T. (Picardy Plant Innovations, Teaching and Technological Research) is one of Institutes for Energy Transition. Its purpose is to develop a competitive French industry in the plant based chemistry field with a competitive and promising renewable raw material: the oilseed biomass. The precompetitive research program GENESYS, directed by the SAS PIVERT (society in charge of the ITE P.I.V.E.R.T. created in 2012), is a key element of the Institute for Energy Transition P.I.V.E.R.T. The GENESYS program aims to identify the bases of the oilseed biorefinery of the future. The research is based on the three aspects of biomass cycle: production (agronomy, harvest, and supply), biomass fractionation and transformation, and bio-products delivery using different chemical or biochemical pathways. The work package 2 “fractionation and thermochemistry processes” is one of the 7 subthemes of GENESYS. Job description: The Biomechanics and Bioengineering Lab at the University of Technology of Compiègne invite applications for an immediate opening position on a research project focused on the development of predictive models for complex chemical systems. The project takes parts of a grant from the GENESYS Program (institut-pivert/) (AMPHIPRED project). The objective of the postdoctoral project will be to develop an advanced data mining approach under data uncertainty for predicting the relationships between molecule characteristics, physicochemical properties and structural descriptors. The candidate will be mostly in charge of the development and the implementation of new methods taking the data uncertainty into consideration. The work will be made in collaboration with 3 other laboratories. More globally, the follow-up of the research program will be made in connection with the project managers of the SAS PIVERT. Required knowledge /Skills: This project requires a good knowledge in classical and advanced data mining methods and especially in accounting data uncertainty into predictive models. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Computer Science or Computational Biology or Systemic Biology or related field and a proven track record of high quality publications. The candidates should have a strong interest in working and contributing to multidisciplinary teams (computer scientists, bioengineers, biologists) and will be expected to publish high quality peer-review papers and attend international conferences. The candidates should be a team player, methodic and rigorous. Application process: Applicants interested in this project can send a CV (curriculum vitae), a motivation letter, at least one copy of a peer-review journal publication and a recommendation letter to Dr. Tien-Tuan Dao ([email protected]) and to Cécile ARMIEL, HR Development Manager drh@sas-pivert, cecile.armiel@sas-pivert. All documents should be assembled as a single PDF file. Applications will be accepted until the job is filled. The interview could be set up via Skype.
