Posted are 2 pictures that brother Joe sent me. The one with myself, Joe, Joan, and Richard was taken in the spring of 1956 at the side entrance of the big brick. I dont ever remember any pictures with sister Joan since we were small children. Joan, who passed away with kidney cancer at age 55 was a sophomore at Purdue. The picture made it look like I was as tall as Joe, but I was standing up a bit of a hill. Joe was a sophomore and really bulked up the next year as a junior and in my opinion was our best player on our 57 team. Joe is retired from Vincennes U. and lives in Cape Coral, Fl. He still works part-time as a construction manager. Richard, better known as Dickey, had serious brain tumor surgery a number of years ago and is currently residing in the nursing center of the Masonic Home in Franklin. As a kid with a paper route, I think he knew everyone in Gosport. Life is pretty fragile. Considering that I am too darn heavy, I am fortunate that I am extremely healthy. Next, is the only picture that I am aware of our big brick. We each had our own bedroom, but with no heat upstairs we didnt dally around getting downstairs in the morning durng winter. We had a large dining room. Joe and I moved the table and we played basketball in that room. In respnse to Dave Marley, Joe tells me that the bricks were made in the area. Loved that old house. The last time it was occupied was during the wedding of Joan to Ken Bales in 1958. The small building just to the north of the house was what we called the milk house. It was used to wash and store milking equipment and to cool and store fresh milk. Prior to the requirement to pasteurize milk, Dad used it to store the bottling equipment. He delivered whole bottled milk to grocery stores. In 1958, we converted the milkhouse to an apartment. Joe and I lived there during the summer of 1958. We drove to Indianapolis daily to work on construction. Dad and mom lived in Francesville. We had a great time that summer with a few parties with lots of local and out of town friends joining us. It was the last time that Joe and I ever spent in Gosport. I took Joe to IU in August where he played football at IU in the fall and played basketball on IUs freshman team that same year. He was one of the very few IU athletes to get ascholarship to play both sports. After taking Joe to IU, I closed up the milk house and moved back to ISU for my sophomore year. That was the end of the Beach family in Gosport.
