My former regiment sent me this message this afternoon. I have E mailed back to ask if it was okay to put this message on Walsall Past and Present. I have just received a reply saying ‘YES.’ All, The French Government has expressed a wish to award the surviving veterans of D Day and the 1944 battles to liberate France with the Legion dHonneur. If you know anyone who fits the bill, get them to contact their Regimental Association and ask for an application form. This is not an open-ended invitation, the offer will be closed at some time in the future so everyone needs to act now. 2nd Bn Cheshire Regiment veterans can get their application form from RHQ, The Castle, Chester, CH1 2DN or by sending an email to cheshire.regt.association@hotmail
