Posted by racer18User Info on September 22, 2013, 5:35 pm VORES COMPACT WIN TO EATON DeGraff OH: (9/21) : The Vores Compact Touring Series made its first stop at Shady Bowl Speedway Saturday night. The Indiana based series had over 20 cars on hand, with nineteen taking the green flag for the feature. Chris Crozier jumped out front at the drop of the green and led the first three laps. Chris Jennings then took over the lead for two laps before giving way to Ron Masters. Masters then led the field until late in the race, when son-in-law and fast qualifier Gary Eaton Jr. took over the lead. The 2013 track champion led the final counters to post the win in his Sarica Mfg Honda, Masters was second, with Holli Eaton third, Terry Eaton fourth and Dylan Troyer fifth. Masters was the dash winner, with Phil Iliff and Jason Timmerman taking heat honors. Gary Eaton was fast qualifier. The modified main saw a great race between West Liberty’s Chris Parker and Greg Stapleton. Parker held off a late race charge by Stapleton to win by half a car length in his family owned , Joe’s Garage sponsored ride. Last weeks feature winner Buddy Townsend was third, with Mike Carroll fourth and fast qualifier Shane Shirk fifth. Parker carried the checker, with Carl Stapleton taking a very popular heat win. The late model division saw Quincy’s Josh Smith pass early leader Mark Parker on lap seven. Smith then set sail for the checker in his Creative Tool and Die racer. Smith went on to post his second straight win in his family owned racer. Greg Stapleton,Parker, Brad Coons and Russ Bobb rounded out the top five. Smith was fast qualifier. The Hot Rodz Auto Parts 25 was the feature event for the street stocks. Hoosier driver Jason Drummond was in charge the first six laps before giving way to Fairborn driver Jim Lewis Jr.. Lewis put his Camaro out front and led the final go rounds to notch still another feature win in his Performance Paint backed machine, picking up the $100.00 bonus from Hot Rodz Auto Sales. Brothers Dave and Josh Sage finished second and third, with Drummond fourth and Mike Schaffer fifth. Schaffer was the dash winner, with Bo Hoelscher and Kevin Brandyberry taking heat checkers. Lewis set fast time. In Pro-4 racing, Houston’s Steve Clarkson once again put his Rosewood Machine and Tool backed Ford in victory lane. Rodney Schrack, Matt Thompson, Josh Plummer and Randy Donohue rounded out the top five.. Shady Bowl Speedway will close out its 2013 season this Saturday (9/28) with the running of the Max Evans Memorial Dwarf Car Race. The late models, modifieds, street stocks and compacts will round out the action. Racing will start at 7.
