Posted from: Aussies Fighting Against Dog Fighting Hey everyone. With the recent dog theft this is a reminder for us all to be extra vigilant of our surroundings. With 3 Labradors stolen from backyards in the last week we believe the perpetrator/s must have somehow known where to find their targets. We do not know if the perpetrator/s are watching people walking their dogs and following them home, looking over fences to find their victims, or know which backyards contains dogs through some other means which is a scary thought. It is very concerning to us that 3 Labradors were stolen from the same suburb in the past week. We can mitigate or reduce the risk of dog theft with some careful planning. Please pay attention to who and what is going on around you when you are out with your dogs. Make sure you are not followed home. Talk to your neighbours and ask them to keep an eye on your dog when you are not there - Educate them by telling them why this is necessary, and do the same for them. These thefts would be reduced significantly if there was more awareness out there as EVERY Street has a Mrs Mangle that watches everything going on! Padlock your gates. You can even get alarm padlocks that will go off if they are tampered with! Try and block any view into your backyard and dont let your dogs in the front yard - ever! What your trying to do here is let as few people as possible know that a dog even exists at your premises. The safest thing you can do is bring your dogs inside to sleep at night. If you are concerned about a vehicle, get a rego and try and get a description of the occupants. If you know about people walking down your street looking into yards - Follow them and see where they go and what they are up too. As far as we are aware, of the 3 Labs stolen there is no indication or mention of a tag of any type being left at the home.
