Posting 1454 Born rebellious, with fire in his eyes, the highly expressive Nationalist poet that he became, Subramanya Bharathi died this day after a meagre life of 38 years after toiling in utter poverty.....and his last procession to the burial ghats had a humble entourage of just fourteen sympathisers! Bharati, considered a peoples poet, a great nationalist, outstanding freedom fighter and social visionary, ironically, delivered his last speech at Erode, which was about the topic Man is Immortal. After all, Come, Yama...let me kick you were his poetic words as a fearless mortal! The last years of his life were spent in a house in Triplicane, Chennai & this abode is a monument in his memory now. Today, being his death anniversary, Songscan bows to this Great Soul with a special Posting with one of his lyrics Nenju Porukkuthillaiye as it appeated in the film Parasakthi (1952), the debut film of Sivaji Ganesan.
