Posting 1497 Another vintage solo, Unnai azhaithadhu yaaro based on Kalyani Ragam, in the beautiful rendering of P. Bhanumathi, a multi faceted power house of immense talents that she was, forms todays posting. Music Director S.M.Subbiah Naidu gave her this singing opportunity in the film Malai KaLLan (1954) of which she was also the heroine. The film was based on the story of Namakkal Kavingnar Ramalingam Pillai, but the screen play was done by Mu.Karunanidhi. Produced at Pakshiraja Studios, Coimbatore, the film was directed by Sreeramulu Naidu. The movie was the first Tamil film to win a Presidents Silver Medal. Ot was also made in all South Indian languages as well as in Hindi. The film established M. G. Ramachandran as a box office hero.
