Posting 1508 Kamba Ramayanam has a beautiful invocation on Lord Anjaneya. It involves all the five elements of nature, Air, Space, Earth, Water, Fire, collectively called Pancha Bhutha, in its unequalled poetic glory. Anjile onru petran (The son of Vayu (air) Anjile onRai thaavi (took off over the Water (ocean) (to fly to Lanka) Anjile onru aaRaaga Aariyarkku aaga eagi (and transited through Space, which is one of the five elements) to serve the Great person meaning Rama) Anjile onru petra ANangai kaNdu ayalaar ooril (to save the lady, who is the daughter of Earth (Bhuma Devi), meaning Seetha, at the alien state of Lanka) Anjile onRai vaithaan (Setting Fire to the city in that sojourn) Avan namai vaithu kaappaan (Let Him bless & deliver us all) The whole poem encompasses Hanumans role as a dhoota of Sri Ram. Talking of the role of an emissary, it has always been uncomfortably tough in history, whether it was the Hanuman in the Epic Ramayana or Condoleezza Rice in Bush Administration! And in the puranas & many a Raja-Rani genre tales, the nature of emissaries ranged from swans to parrots to doves to cuckoos to breeze to moon to clouds and what not. But unlike todays courier companies they seem to have done their job flawlessly, that brought smiles to both the sender & the receiver! And, may be, they, thus, were the earliest form of DHL or FedEx!! Here again, a prince deputing the high moon to his nayika and vice versa, of course with a delectable duet that can induce you to sleep, if heard past ten P.M! Listen to Thoothu sellayo in the voice of veteran Ghantasala along with P.Suseela from the film Raja Sevai, music composed by T.V.Raju. This was a dubbed movie from Telugu & this sequence shows it has been filmed on NTR & Sowcar Janaki. But I am still trying to figure out that waterfall in the set. It looks like a giant tkitchen sink tap, pouring down the water under its jumbo snout, whoever was the Art Director of the movie. Well, lets keep ourselves to the pleasant music. Enjoy!
