Setting and Reporting The role of UNMIL is to support the government, within its capabilities and in its areas of deployment; reconciliation, conflict transformation and resolution in order to solidify peace and security in Liberia. Education First-level university degree in social sciences, political science, international relations, public administration, anthropology, law, economics or related area;.or a related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience in a related area. Work Experience If first level university degree, then and at least 4 years (following completion of a bachelor’s degree) of progressively responsible experience are required; or a Master’s Degree and at least 2 years of qualifying experience. Experience in conflict management, support to state institutions or programme management would be an asset. Knowledge of issues related to recovery and reintegration as pertaining to reconciliation and conflict prevention and mitigation. Field experience is desirable. (No experience is required for candidates who have passed a United Nations Competitive Recruitment Examination). Languages Fluency in spoken and written English or French; knowledge of a second UN language is an advantage and sometimes a requirement. Fluency in the local language may be required.
