Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. EaP-GREEN The objective of the “Greening Economies in the Eastern Neighborhood” (EaP GREEN) Project is to assist countries in the development and implementation of sustainable public procurement policies by increasing awareness and building the capacities of policy makers and procurement managers in the EaP region. This includes the following three target countries: Azerbaijan, Moldova, and Ukraine. ASEAN +3 The formal title of the project is “Strengthening the capacities and improving the knowledge on green public procurement and ecolabelling in the ASEAN +3 region.” The ASEAN+3 region is the ASEAN region plus the countries China, Japan, and South Korea. The motivation for the project is that China, Japan, and South Korea have gained strong expertise and proven experience in creating integrated approaches, especially GPP and ecolabelling, to promote production and consumption of more sustainable products. With UNEP’s expertise and capacity-building experience, this project will seek to set up an exchange and cooperation programme that will allow transfers of knowledge and experience about GPP and ecolabelling between ASEAN+3 countries. Sustainable Public Procurement and Ecolabelling project – SPPEL Building on the valuable experience acquired on ecolabelling and SPP, UNEP will launch a joint project that will seek to combine these two instruments to achieve maximum synergies and better deliver the common goal of stimulating the demand and supply of sustainable products.
