Posting from Australia - NSW - Cold Climate Yesterdays job picking 3rd lot of garlic - 67 bulbs harvested (I call them small pink but proper name is Purple Monaro ) I picked them yesterday because they are very close to being ready plus there is a chance of another cold snap coming through in next couple of days so didnt want to risk losing anymore to white rot (white rot occurs in cold wet weather). 2 more beds to go, Italian White & Elephant Garlic. I wash the dirt off the garlic with the hose & remove the dead leaves then place the garlic on the veranda to dry for a few months . After a couple of weeks I top & tail them and once completely dry I separate all the bulbs into cloves and pick out the very best cloves for next years planting. BUT you dont have to do any of that ... its just the way I like to do things
