Mesaros of the PT-308 - June 25, 1944 - 70 years ago today – - Hit the sack at 06:45 and awoke at 1200 in time for chow Went to the movie to see “Mr Big”. Took it easy and docked at clay wall instead of anchoring out. Hit the sack at 23:00 From the MTB Squadrons War Diary – 25 June 1944 Movements: PT 206 Arrived Naples from Maddalena. Missions: Mission No. 341: PTs 202 (Senior Officer, Lieutenant (jg) E.S.A. Clifford, USNR), 207 and 215 patrolled off Genoa. No surface targets were observed during patrol. Mission No. 342: PTs 201 (Senior Officer, Lieutenant D.M.Craig, USNR) and 204 patrolled south of Elba off Marina Di Campo. No surface activity observed. Mission No 343: PTs 307 (Senior Officer, Lieutenant E. Snodgrass, USNR), 306, 312 and 304 departed Bastia for a combination patrol and intelligence project to Pta. Del Mesca area. PT 306 at stern of column detached itself just prior to arriving abeam of “pinpoint” while remainder of boats continued to patrol with intention of having enemys attention forced upon them. PT 306 was illuminated by flares while approaching the beach and had to abandon the mission to return to base. PT 304, 307 and 312 after making no enemy contacts secured patrol of 0330. Mission No. 344: PT 305 (Lieutenant (jg) W. Borsdorff, USNR, Commanding), with British MTBs 420 (Senior Officer, Lieutenant Blomfield, RN), 423 and 375 patrolled between Spezia and Leghorn. No enemy targets were encountered. Dispatch from COMNAVNAW directed ARB Squadrons Two and Three report to Commanding Officer of Beach Jumpers for temporary duty in connection with training and operations. Administrative and repair remain responsibility of COMBOATRONS.
