Posting here because I thought some of you may get a kick out of it. I just laminated this for my father-in-law and he plans to nail it to the last post thats left of the cabin he and his friends built on top of Po Hill in 1955. The original 4 boys in 11th grade at the time, were Steve Nyman, John Rogers, Dicky Maloney, and Elwin Pollis (unsure of spellings). The seniors found the cabin and a battle ensued with each side armed with slingshots, air rifles, bbs etc. In case the font is too small, it reads: Here lies the remains of the famous Fort Powow. Built in 1955 as a single story 12 ft x 12 ft one room log cabin. It was later modified to have an additional second story. This second story proved to be invaluable in its defense during the Battle of Death in which a force of only four defenders overcame an attacking army of over twice that many. Armed with only air rifles, and slingshots firing many rounds of BBs, marbles, steel balls and high explosives (M-80s). The enemy was completely routed and forced to retreat through the wooded trails and off of Powow Hill. This broken post was the corner post linking the first and second stories and remains the only testament to Fort Powows existence.
