Posting my response from an earlier conversation on my Timeline. My ears were burning last night and today from ruffling feathers. If you must feel the need to message or get together and discuss how terrible a person I must be, then I must be doing something right. The people who believe I am being negative need to re-read, even twice if they have to, my post with suggestions on how to make things better. If you follow my timeline and posts, I strongly support the humane society, have adopted from there, and advertise for them all the time, such as the June adoption event. I also share each and every FOUND dog they post and have made many matches myself with owners looking for their lost dog. My words were chosen very carefully regarding areas where ALL , as in ALL shelters could improve. By drawing a line in the sand and saying This is the way it is and has been and end of discussion and you are just being negative means that incidents like this will just continue to occur and that is OK. Also by stating that no one knows the entire story and that makes it OK shows the problem with transparency. Right now It IS our shelter funded by our money and donations. Looking at people who commented on my posts, I see years, no decades and some entire lifetimes of experience from people that work and volunteer elsewhere. A perfect example showing part of the problem is when you take the stand that if you do not volunteer at a certain place then you must be wrong. Minds need to be open and groups working together to accomplish one goal. Get them home, get them out, get them into new homes, exhaust all possibilities or create new ones. Killing a healthy dog should not even remotely be even considered a last option.
