Posting on behalf of Righospitalet in Copenhagen, Denmark: The Medtronic Copenhagen Neurosurgical Observer Fellowship in Skull Base Surgery September – November 2014 (3 months) Department of Neurosurgery, the National University Hospital, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen, Denmark. Due to unforeseen circumstances, this fellowship has become available with short notice. Aim: To provide education in skull base surgery at an international level. Applicants: Doctors with a specialist registration in the field of neurosurgery and an interest in subspecialisation in skull base surgery. Applicants from countries with limited or no capacity for post graduate neurosurgical education in skull base surgery will be preferred. Language: English, must be well spoken and understood. Content: The skull base team in Copenhagen consist of Neurosurgeons, ENT-surgeons, Ophtalmic surgeons supported by various other specialties such as neuroradiology, oncology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, physiotherapists and nursing staff. In the 3-month clinical observer fellowship the fellow will be assisting/observing 2-6 skull base operations per week performed by the skull base team, covering both neurosurgery, ENT and orbital surgery, as well as combined cases when possible. The fellow will participate in weekly multidisciplinary skull base meetings, participate in the Copenhagen Skull Base Course 2014 and the 9th Copenhagen advanced FESS course, and will have the opportunity to perform an in depth study of skull base anatomy at the Medical School at the University of Copenhagen. Due to the language barrier, there is no service commitment and therefore no salary in connection with the fellowship. In October, there will be a break in the clinical activities of 1 week due to autumn holidays. Included in the fellowship Observation of skull base cases. Accommodation (student level, up to 2500 Euro covered for 3 month) Monthly allowance of 500 Euro (towards basic living expenses) Possiblity to perform a study in our anatomical laboratory. Course fees for the Copenhagen Skull Base Course 2014 (September) and the 9th Copenhagen advanced FESS course (November) Not included in the fellowship There is no salary attached to the fellowship. Travel expenses are not covered. Insurance is not covered. Accommodation needs to be arranged by the fellow, up to 2500 Euro covered by the fellowship.
