Posts that are made in this group will be shared with the original Philosophy Group (https://facebook/groups/neoacademia/). So far, in addition to myself, four administrators have been added to the group thus far: Our regulars, Sonia Ibrahim and Courtney Reardon, and two newly promoted admins, Keith Barr and Amanda Gold because I thought we might need some unstable young people in charge. This fills out five of the nine positions available in the Satrapy (Seedys supreme administrators). If the near future, we will establish a representative democracy for Philosophy ϕ headed by the Satrapy. We will also establish an award system for posts made here to better raise the standards of topics in the group. For the time being, posts will be sans-approval for the group annex, and theological discussions can be posted any day of the week. However, the group policy remains the same. There will be no nonsense of an extreme nature and no religious posts allowed. By religious posts, we mean no proselyting, no sermonizing, and no trying to pass off your personal views of faith and God as legitimate philosophy. This restriction will continue to be in place for atheism as well. The hope is that enough of the active members from the old group will join this annex so that we may eventually retire the original Philosophy Group. Many of you are probably not aware of this, but I was not the original creator of Philosophy Group. Originally I was member 108 when the group first started, which was about four years ago I believe. When the old admins and the original creator left the group, we were somewhere between 400 and 500 members. That was about three years ago. Due to the fact that the original creator left without officially handing over the reigns, an ill-conceived facebook policy has prevented us from safely adding new admins to the group without the threat of having it hijacked by a disgruntled admin as the original Philosophy Group once was. The new group has no such flaw. I wasnt sure if the new annex should be a page or a group at first. Community pages give you a far greater arsenal of tools to work with to improve your page. However, I felt that group membership which is not available with community pages is essential for our needs. Membership to the group will be left open for now. Anyone can join without the need to be approved. I suspect that this will ultimately lead to a lot of spam making its way to the annex page, but we will be diligent to remove it as it appears. May our future be philosophically glorious!
