Potential: I have been thinking about potential wrapped up in the lives of people around me here, family, friends, colleagues, and so many new connections. It seems that we live into our potential, especially as we are encouraged and supported by others. Along the way people saw things in me that had some value and helped me get at it more creatively. One of those people was the public speaking teacher in High School. She invited me to lead the Whos Who on stage event during our senior year. It was an assignment that made me shiver, then. But she believed in me, equipped, and thrust me into it. I am forever grateful for her and that moment. I suppose thats the way we reach our greatest potential and usefulness. God awakens something in us, prepares us [generally through others who are mysteriously and strategically placed], and then thrusts us into the world or some set of circumstances so some meaningful consequence occurs. The willingness to be vulnerable like that is the gateway to the new life Jesus proclaimed. --Just thinking.
