Potential camping trip for the future - perhaps in Spring 2015; Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. Well, you know, I am a gorge rat so this is something totally different but is quite intriguing. Land Between The Lakes is the worlds largest inland peninsula at about 200,000 acres between Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake (the Tennessee River and Cumberland River impoundments). It became a National Recreation Area in 1963 under President John F,.Kennedy Although it is in the back yard of the city in which I was born and raised (Clarksville, TN), I have had little experience with LBL outside of a few campouts. Good friends of the family, The Burchetts, were very much into the outdoors and I believe all three of the Burchett boys became Eagle Scouts. Eventually they would build a cabin in one of the outlying areas of LBL which I visited a time or two. Good times. This particular campsite looks intriguing and how I do recall the beach areas being full of small seashells. LBL also has American Bison, Elk and Bald Eagle to view. So, there is much to photograph potentially. So, I am looking into this for a future campout. Should be a good time.
