Poverty line....what does it signify?.....As per the data released by the government , an urban who can spend Rs.33/- per day or a villager who can afford Rs.28/= per day cannot be termed as poor, while the ground reality clearly shows that even Rs.150/- per day cannot make a person meet his bare needs ...taking into considerations the high costs of food and vegetables........then what about his other expenses on education for children,shelter and medical .............such methodology of calculations to merely show that poverty has come down is gross injustice and mockery of the poor people... why can`t the Planning Commission come with a benchmark based on ground realities so that reforms for tackling poverty, hunger and malnutrition can be more realistic and down to earth......Unless the necessary measures are not taken for planning based on ground realities, the concept of Food Security Bill will not serve the purpose for which it is intended.....................................opinion and views are welcome
