Power Angels to help fight crime against women, Says DIG Gorakhpur; Power angels to help fight crime against women, will be designated soon in inter schools, colleges and university, in extension of women help line 1090, DIG Sangeev kumar told during “Meet the press” programme held at press club on Tuesday . Under the scheme, girl volunteer in inter school,colleges and university would be designated as “power angels” who would inform the women helpline number1090, about any complaint related to crime against women. cops would use the inputs to nail down notorious elements involved in eve teasing or other anti women activities. “ we have received order from DGP office in this context” he said. Sanjeev, who switched to police services from medical profession, in1998 feels proud to use his knowledge gained while pursuing MD(in Dermatology) before joining police services. “ knowledge obtained while medical studies help recognizing the genuinity of cases” said the DIG adding opting to UP cadre at the cost of his medical career gave him an added opportunity to serve humanity. Recalling his days during students life the DIG told that , dealing with human skeleton (for study) and human parts was an unforgettable experience for him . Countering question of the reporters over crime related issues in eastern UP,the top cops said the widening wedge between poors and rich , increasing unemployment , and shared boundary of east UP with Nepal and , Jharkhand and Bihar were the main cause for rise in crime. Land related disputes were what he ranked high among the cases the police come across in eastern UP.” There is no online records of lands available in eastern UP said the top cop, urging it to the main cause behind Land related frauds.Though he held that different factors like low tolerance capacity of people in eastern up was another reason that triggers dispute over pity issues, The DIG admits there were rampant corruption in the police department ranging from lower to top level .
