The Opportunity We are looking for a Power Station Diesel Fitter / Operator to undertake maintenance both planned and breakdown as required on equipment and installations for the two power stations servicing the RTA Weipa mining operations, Weipa township and surrounding communities. You will also be required to develop and apply the skills for operation of the power station. Rio Tinto Alcans Weipa mine is located 900km north-west of Cairns on the Gulf of Carpentaria and has been operating for over 50 years. What the role entails This role is a great opportunity for an experienced Diesel Fitter with a strong work ethic and can do attitude. It is paramount that the maintenance and operation of the power station is conducted in a safe and efficient manner. Working a 12h,r 4 on (2 day, 2 night), 4 off continuous roster and reporting to the Crew Leader, you will be: •Carrying out maintenance on the power station and providing assistance to remedy breakdowns; •Managing day to day operation of the power stations for reliability to meet customer requirements; •Demonstrating a high commitment to safety standards and complying with and applying the site HSE Management system. What you will need for this role To succeed in this role, you will have: •Diesel Fitter trade qualification; •Rigger or Doggers high risk work licence; •Forklift and/or Elevated Work Platform high risk work licences. •Experience with MAN medium or low speed diesel engines in a power generation environment is desirable; •Experience conducting fault diagnosis and operating knowledge of diesel power generation equipment.
