Power Study The Vision Series: Pt. 2 1 Kings 19: 1-4. And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword. Then Jezebel send a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time. And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there. But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die, and said, It is enough; now, O Jehovah, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers. In this passage and right before, the prophet Elijah has killed all the prophets of Baal and Queen Jezebel is out to get him. He is running for his life and in great fear. He knows he is about to die, but wants to do so on his terms, rather than be killed at the hands of Jezebel. After performing miracles at the hand of God, he has now come up against trouble and is ready to call it quits. Elijah encourages others, but cant see a way out of his own suffering. How many of us do the same thing? We talk others down off the ledge, we encourage them and help walk them come out of their troubles, but when it comes to ourselves, we want to give up and through in the towel. The spirit that Jezebel carried had very little (in fact nothing) to do with the connotation we apply to it today. We consider it a cosmetic thing (make up, lipstick) or mode of dress, or even a promiscuous spirit. It goes much deeper than this though. This woman had a murderous spirit. She wanted to kill Elijah and had it not been for the hand of God, she very well would have carried out her threat to do so. Elijah had lost his vision. The vision that God had given him. He allowed fear for his life to throw him off track. Many will call you conceited and arrogant if you exercise even the slightest bit of confidence and self-esteem. So in order not to make people feel bad, we tend to dumb ourselves down for their benefit. People will talk about you being confident in your self, then turn around and belittle you for not being more confident. A word that is spoken over your life doesnt even have to be a Godly word in order for it to come to fruition, you just have to believe it. Elijah had the power to combat Jezebels words, but he was afraid to. He lost his vision. Jezebel was essentially prophesying to the prophet that he was going to die. It was up to him to receive it or reject it. He chose to receive it and allow it to defeat him. Many times we are so busy helping others to the altar and into an abundant life that we forget to believe in it ourselves and begin to live defeated lives ourselves. We need to find ourselves regularly getting some alone time with God. It is so important that we do because we dont want to get so caught up in ministry that we forget to refuel and recharge ourselves. Most of the time we let a fear situation push us into talking to God. Elijah was a shepherd on the run. He hasnt taken time to refuel, so now hes running on empty and just wants to die. Plus, after all the ministry and encouraging hes done, there is no one around to encourage him. Elijah didnt realize, as many of us dont, that he was in no position to tell God when enough was enough. God only knows when weve had enough. He knows when to step in and wont give us more than HE knows we can handle. And it is at that point that He will step in to rebuild and restore you. Elijah heard Jezebels words and received them. He knew he was about to die. God had to sit him down, allow him to rest and refuel before be could continue. These 3 steps can help you with your vision. 1. Dispel 2. Propel 3. Excel To Dispel means to vanquish, take away or eradicate something. Some things have been spoken over your life. Theyve been spoken against you. You need VICTORY VISION in order to pluck up and dispel the lies of the enemy. You must eliminate the hate, reject it and release it. It is very hard to release something that youve not rejected physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally. You have to denounce it. Stop cradling the devils testimony about your life. Stop living out the opinions others have cultivated about you, who dont even know you. God made you, so why is it to easy to believe what others say and so hard to believe what God has to say? Jeremiah 29:11 - I know the plans I have for you............). We do this because weve lost the vision that God gave us. Weve begun to live out the lies because we nurture them and refuse to reject them. Gods truth will empower your vision. You have the power to pluck up defeat, discouragement, hurt and pain from your life. To Propel something is to drive, push, launch or motivate something to movement. We have to get rid of satans lies (dispel them) because we cant propel to the next level with extra stuff hanging onto us. Once God begins moving you, you dont want old stuff pulling at you. Your vision wont die (you wont lose it) if you get rid of the dead weight. Lies are leeches and they will leave you injured if they catch you the wrong way or if they come from the wrong source. Never chase down a lie, and dont let one live in your life. Dont allow a lie to change or dictate who you are. Dispel it so you can propel to your next level in God. When we refuse to propel past some things in our lives, God will make them so uncomfortable for us so that we have to leave them behind and move on to the place He desires for us to be in. How can you be broke and comfortable? Sick and be OK with it? It takes vision to propel and you have to have vision in order to do it. You also have to remember that everyone wearing your jersey is not on the same team with you. May be the same, but theyre not playing for you. Just like a helicopter or boat has been to have propellers and blades connected to them to move right, we have to have the right connections to move correctly. The blades and propellers (people) connected to you will either propel you to a new place or keep you stuck in an old one. Check your blades and if youve got blades connected to you but you havent moved in years, you need to change them. They arent doing what theyre designed to do. You need propellers to propel and you need to propel in order to excel. To Excel is to go higher, further. It is the root work of excellent or excellence. God wants us to operate with a spirit of excellence and we cant do that by staying in our familiar place. We must propel our mentality to step out of that place. Excellence is a place we should always be striving for. God will take you out of a place, change you and send you back to that very place in order for you to show others the way out. Hell allow you to be the one who made it out in order to encourage someone else to come out. Everybody cant leave and stay gone. Whos gonna be left left to show others the way? Charity begins at home. Many times when were in that familiar place people begin to take us for granted, like well always be there. Proverbs 31:3-29 illustrates the difference between excellence and non-excellence Give not thy strength unto women, Nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings. It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; Nor for princes to say, Where is strong drink? Lest they drink, and forget the law, And pervert the justice due to any that is afflicted. Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, And wine unto the bitter in soul: Let him drink, and forget his poverty, And remember his misery no more. Open thy mouth for the dumb, In the cause of all such as are left desolate. Open thy mouth, judge righteously, And minister justice to the poor and needy. A worthy woman who can find? For her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband trusteth in her, And he shall have no lack of gain. She doeth him good and not evil All the days of her life. She seeketh wool and flax, And worketh willingly with her hands. She is like the merchant-ships; She bringeth her bread from afar. She riseth also while it is yet night, And giveth food to her household, And their task to her maidens. She considereth a field, and buyeth it; With the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. She girdeth her loins with strength, And maketh strong her arms. She perceiveth that her merchandise is profitable: Her lamp goeth not out by night. She layeth her hands to the distaff, And her hands hold the spindle. She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; Yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of the snow for her household; For all her household are clothed with scarlet. She maketh for herself carpets of tapestry; Her clothing is fine linen and purple. Her husband is known in the gates, When he sitteth among the elders of the land. She maketh linen garments and selleth them, And delivereth girdles unto the merchant. Strength and dignity are her clothing; And she laugheth at the time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; And the law of kindness is on her tongue. She looketh well to the ways of her household, And eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children rise up, and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praiseth her, saying: Many daughters have done worthily, But thou excellest them all. When were not excelling were rebelling which essential puts us along the order of witches and warlocks. Instead of us struggling with sin, some of us are snuggling with it. God wants us to excel, but it must be with a spirit of excellence. We have to look beyond whats going on in the now and remember what God told us and what He showed us. Look beyond the now and see that youre still here. If you have nothing else, take care of the vision that God has given to you. Make sure your spirituality and mentality have caught up with the vision. Where you are now is not the residency of your reality. You have to see yourself coming into that reality. Remember that there is no attack when there is no assignment. If there is no anointing, there will be no attack. There are promises for the process and if God gave you the process, He will give you success 1. Dispel the lies 2. Propel but remember that everybody cant be your propeller 3. Then excel to where God wants you to be
