Power at his fingertips! Hows this for a blast, wake up and smell the popcorn. Last Friday my associate Ben Hillier and I recorded the restored historic Christie Theatre Organ at the Epping Baptist Church. The organist, Cliff Bingham, known world-wide for his mastery of the theatre organ, is putting down a CD featuring this and other great instruments he has played all over Australia. This instrument, originally installed in the Eastwood Cinema during the 1920s, was fully restored and installed in its present location around 30 years ago. Not only is it used on Sundays for church services, but some of the worlds greatest musicians when visiting Sydney have given concerts on this remarkable instrument. Cliff Bingham quite often provides accompaniment to silent movies on this incredible instrument. Checkout the pictures and sound grab below.
