Power at your doorstep! President Museveni commissions $ 6.7 million Kabale - Kisoro electricity supply line at Hamurwa Trading Centre President Museveni commissioned the Kabale – Kisoro electricity supply line at a ceremony that took place yesterday at Hamurwa Trading Centre in Kabale District. The electricity project which covers a total of 166 kilometers cost US$ 6.7 million. It traverses the areas of Kabale district on to Rubuguri and Mutunze in Kisoro district. It also serves the section from Kisoro Hospital to Bunagana as well as Kisoro to Busanza route. Addressing a big gathering of wananchi who gathered at Hamurwa Trading Centre for the new powerline commissioning that was also witnessed by Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, President Museveni stressed the importance of health for the population. “Parents should take their daughters aged between 8 and 12 years for immunisation against cervical cancer. The NRM Government has made a big success having ensured that all immunisable diseases are attended to by the medical personnel,” he said. President Museveni urged the leaders and the people at large to work hard and ensure household incomes. He informed them that the Government assigned UPDF Officers the task of promoting modern agricultural production as part of its efforts to eradicate poverty from households. He said the NRM Government, through the soldiers and other leaders, would sensitize the population on maximization of income from their small pieces of land. He observed that Kigezi Sub-Region has experienced land fragmentation which is detrimental to agricultural production. He assured the people that Government would work on the water supply for Hamurwa Sub-County. He observed that since it has provided them with infrastructure, such as good roads, they need to put in more effort to ensure eradication of poverty from their homes.
