Power of Anticipation. Some of the problems we face today as individuals, even as a nation could have been avoided if we had taken out time to Anticipate and put systems in place. A few years ago, as a teller in a financial institution, I was always asking my senior colleagues for posting codes & procedure for correcting certain common mistakes i.e, mistakes commonly made by new staff. But, being someone who wasnt good at memorising, I had to take out time to create a system in the form of a working sheet that I could quickly make reference to whenever I had a challenge. I kept this working sheet in my cubicle. Before creating the system, I also anticipated that I would be a senior colleague & someone would need this same information from me, so I decided to make the working sheet complete & clear, something that would last longer than my stay in that unit. In all my years of working in that unit and even after I left that unit, that working sheet was useful & relevant to most of the individuals that worked in that unit. There was no need for new staff to continually ask senior colleagues to help out with certain challenges, the working sheet became a reference point. Funny enough, after leaving the unit for about a year, I went back to relieve a colleague and guess what? I worked in that same cubicle and still used the same working sheet I created years ago which had been neatly taped to the wall. You cannot go back into the past to prevent the problems you may currently be facing but you still have the power to anticipate future challenges & start putting systems in place. Sometimes its easy to anticipate future challenges, sometimes its not but its an activity if carried out successfully would safe you a lot of problems in the future. It can safe you from losing your marriage, your business, your Job, your assets, your faith, your family, your investments, your savings, etc. The coming election, devaluation of the naira, expected subsidy removal, falling oil prices, expected electricity tariff increase, etc, would lead surely to certain changes. Its time to start anticipating how this changes would affect your personal economy and put systems in place that will help you take advantage of these changes. Start Now!
