Powerful Sermon on Sunday! A Dwelling Place for the Lord - this was the title of Sundays sermon, preached by Elsie and Larry D. Elsie began by asking some important questions: How do we prepare a dwelling place for God? Or are we satisfied with just an occasional visit? She then went on to expand on two terms, visitation and habitation. VISITATION speaks of events and seasons. Their purpose is to provide a taste, a sample. They are common in the midst of habitation and will come often if we will be rightly discipled. Visitation speaks of faith in the Christian walk. HABITATION, however, speaks of a daily abiding (Gal 2:20); it is not a one-time, or even an oft-time event. God will only dwell with us if we make a place for Him. That means we must turn away from the things that offend Him. Ask yourself: Is Jesus comfortable in my life, my home, my activities? How we get to live with Gods presence 24/7 is by crucifying the flesh and making room for those He joins us with. It will cost us everything to do so! Larry expanded on the point that the Lord wants to remove all the obstacles that impede His presence. He is longing for a body that He can embody; to speak through and act through. Its not revival that we need, its reformation! When Jesus comes, He has the right to change things, even the rules. Our comfort takes second place to His comfort. If not, He doesnt stay...but we need Him to stay. God is building a holy temple on earth (Eph 2:21-22; Rev. 3:12; Rev. 21:2) The city of God is a GROUP of PEOPLE and God will make them a temple that He will abide in. These are mature people who abide in Him. He expects us to transfer what we learn in our meditation times and encounters (visitations) into our behaviour. We need to apply what we learn about God and have it transform us. The example of Abraham vs. Lot was used. Lot was a self-seeking man, and he got the best that the world had to offer, but Abraham was a godly man, and he got the better portion..
