The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the Lord. (Proverbs 16:32-33 KJV) Thoughts for Today Holiness and pleasure can coexist. For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17 NLT). But we need to view pleasure through Gods eyes and invite him into every area of life, including the fun times. How do we improve the ways we view and pursue pleasure? One answer is in todays scripture: through practicing moderation and self-control. Consider this … Consider how you can, with Gods help, exert more moderation and self-control around your views and pursuits of pleasure. Pray about it and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you. God wants you to have an abundant life. Jesus came to make the way. But any pleasure you pursue that ignores Jesus and the guidelines in his Word will be shallow and short-lived compared with the joy Jesus provides. Seek him first and find the truly abundant life!
