Powys Local Growth Zones Task and Finish Group Report. Perhaps not the most appealing of reads but has anybody had an opportunity to digest its contents? Andy Newham; a member of the Admin, has tried to get the conversation going in the past with a series of bite sized tasters. No many takers though. I feel this is probably one of the most significant actions for the town, which is passing under the radar. There are 42 pages of investigation and evidence taken from locals and businesses as to what needs doing in the County of Powys. It carves the area up and tries to deal with each subject in turn. Does anybody know or have contacts that may have an idea on how the recommendations are getting on with the Welsh Government? A significant recommendation that applies to Newtown was a business led forum. Its aim being to “employ a development champion” to, in a nutshell, “develop and implement action plan for their town centre”. Local businesses were consulted and evidence was given by at least one member of this board as well as the AM and Town Council. Help re-generate and rejuvenate Newtown could offer a significant people input into this process or not as the case may be. An alignment behind the plan may be good for the town and represent a view from the street?
