Prabir Das has volunteered for a long time with Mother Theresas terminally ill patients in Calcutta (Kolcata) until he decided to help children in 2000. He founded Bulbulir Basa orphanage, where he devoted himself, with the great help of his mother Amma. Bulbulir Basa is a non-profit, non-religious, non-political and non- governemental organization (is regularly registered, though). Here they dedicate their lives and funds (Prabir has is own job and his whole salary goes to support house expenses). At present, Prabir and Amma are giving shelter to 8 boys with poor background, orphans or with disabled parents. They decided to keep few children not only because of the expenses but especially to recreate a family environment; Children do not live like in a normal orphanage but they receive love and attentions as if they were living in a family and this is very important. They only survive thanks to donations and volunteers help but the lack of internet and IT facilities in the house does not help much spreading the word and get people to help and donating. I was volunteering there last February and I will be back the coming winter to help and make some rumors to attract possible donators. I learned so much from them and I can assure you that these children are real fighters... theyre really happy, eager and lovely. Initially this campaign was created to give a hand and buying some school stuff but actually the economic situation is very bad and they are likely to close very soon for the lack of founds! Please, Please give a hand to avoid this sad inconvenience and that children are deprived of a serene future and once more separated from the only family they have!!
