Praise for the Day July 13, 2014 Luke 15:7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. I am PW. This is not thought of as a glamorous position and it is not. There are the expected roles: feed the missionaries and visiting speakers, teach Sunday School, lead Bible studies, smile a lot, take food to the sick and mourning. Those are all parts of ministry and it turns out, I really enjoy them! My love language is service so if I can ‘do’ something for you, I am telling you how much I love you. There are some things that are not so well known. Some of them are best not known, too. But one thing that I get to do is something that I enjoy but never thought about. When a young girl, teenager or woman is baptized, I go to the changing room with them and help them know what to put on, where to put their belongings and what to do with the wet items after the service. While she is changing and we are waiting for the communion service to conclude, there is time to chat a little. This is a memorable time for most people. I want to help point the way to a future life with Christ. Usually I share thoughts similar to this: Some girls think the most important things they have to decide is who they are going to marry or what they are going to do when they grow up. But deciding to follow Jesus means he will be able to help you make those decisions. You can ask yourself when you think about going out with a boy, “Would this be someone Jesus would think is ok? Does he love and honor God?” Jesus can help you make those decisions, if you let him. One thing I cannot understand about the verse for today is that there could be 99/100 of the group that does not need to repent. I think we all do. And when we do, the angels in heaven rejoice. Just as I want those girls to let Jesus be the leader for the rest of their lives, I want them to know that the angels are singing and dancing when they turn their sins over to him. That means they are thrilled when you and I repent too! Imagine being the reason that heaven sings!
