Praise singing is not new to the people of tamale. The only change is that the praise singers have turned their voices to politicians, in the past it was academic excellence. The likes of Anta, haruna economics, Sheikh Simbaako Zandey etc rose to their current prominence through academic excellence. Though I didnt benefit directly from these guys many have and this has resulted in the number of educated dagombas we have across Ghana and beyond. Today its a different picture we see. Praise singer no longer belong to the academic guys but people who have money and can splash cash any how. This is a disturbing trend especially so because these suppose rich guys dont invest in education but still receive accolades. For me the future of tamale youth is gloomy. Something need to change somehow. Education is the key and should at all times be seen as such.
