Praising God in the midst of the storm!!! As you saw earlier, we quickly brought Parker to the hospital tonight. We were at our lake lot in Alabama and I couldnt get Parker to settle for more than 5 minutes at a time for bedtime (VERY abnormal). He would cough and cry out in pain and his breathing began to get continually worse and labored... very fast short breaths. Within about an hour he went from no fever to 102.3. At that point, we became quite concerned, locked everything up and hit the road as quickly as possible. The ER team has been awesome to get us back so quickly and start working with him. I called Jennifer Ray Perry, one of our awesome NICU nurses and she got the NICU team informed that we were on our way in which they sent a respiratory therapist down that had always been great to us too, Amanda Navarro! We just got clear X ray results, and being that he has responded so well to the meds they gave him thru a breathing treatment, they are thinking he has the croup. Thats REALLY awesome news considering what all it could have been with this little guy. A fever and/or cough is never a good thing for him. And can be very scary due to his history and due to having a shunt! By the time we got here, his fever was 103.5.... talk about scaring this mommy and daddy to death! Whew! So, tonight...we are THANKFUL. Yes, THANKFUL! Thankful for an amazing medical team who jumped right on our little fragile man, thankful that we are not on our way in the back of an ambulance to Scottish rite like last time, thankful that our baby boy is currently playing with his pacifier and kicking and smiling, thankful for croup and not some horrid infection or something, and thankful that we made it to the hospital SAFELY and ticket free.... but most of all, and once again, Im thankful that Gods grace NEVER runs out! Weve used it up many many times, but praise the Lord, he offers an unlimited supply of GRACE! Thanks to everyone for the prayers! We should be going home soon with a much happier and bubbly baby boy!
