Pravirchandra Bhanjdeo was the monarch of Bastar, who was shot - TopicsExpress

Pravirchandra Bhanjdeo was the monarch of Bastar, who was shot dead at his own palace in Jagdalpur by the then Congress government of Madhya Pradesh in 1966... Just a year prior to his murder, Banjdeo published a book titled I Pravir the Adivasi God which is an extremely interesting reading for a number of reasons...two most prominent reasons being: a). he clearly mentioned that Adivasis are a grossly exploited lot; and, b). that the government of independent India greedily eyed the mineral rich tracts of Adivasi land and forests with total disregard to the culture and belief systems of the people living there... Pravir Chandra Bhanjdeo was a real popular leader of the Adivasis, whom they remember with reverence even now... *Bailadilla is the iron rich mining location in Bastar where the so-called Maoist insurgents are resisting Indian state now...
