Pray for Paul. (I dont normally go this public for our in-Church prayer requests, but after receiving permission from Pauls Mom, I proceed. This is what I wrote to our precious people, whom I am most blessed to pastor). I love Christchurch. One thing that I love about Christchurch is the way she loves one another. Today I need to to ask you to love Paul Meikle through your prayers. He is in Texas Children’s this morning and it could not be much more serious. Five years ago this January, Paul received a new heart in transplant surgery. That heart in in dire trouble. I could go into more detail, but at this moment it would not be appropriate. In reality the medical team is still in the determining stages as to know what to do next. I have watched Paul grow up and the love I feel for this young man is overwhelming me at the moment. I so want God to part the Red Sea and do a “rise up and walk” for my young 20 year old church member. We had a wonderful conversation late Sunday night as well as last night after they put a temporary stint in his heart. He has some magnificent hopes and dreams of a dedicated Christian young man.Paul was telling me how burdened he is to win some of his acquaintances at work to Christ. He lamented that he knows he needs patience. As he told me of his desires to be closer to Jesus, I could not help but think…”Paul, you could not be closer.” In reflection, he reminded me of the man who bears his name in the Bible when Paul said, “Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:12-14).
