Pray for me as I travel several hours by land on Tuesday to a place called GANTA, a small city in Liberia. It is on the Guinea border, west of Ivory Coast. I will be there for 10 days teaching and training several national men with the goal of starting a new Deaf ministry there. I will be with two IPM missionaries. There are no Deaf churches at all in this country. (My source for that is super reliable... being one of the country leading interpreters, having a Deaf sister and married to a Deaf woman, while involved in the Deaf Association at the highest levels.) There are not more than 400 Deaf attending schools in the whole country, and that number may be slightly high. Are you looking for a place to serve the Lord in education? church ministry with the Deaf? The NEED is GREAT here! Gabon is the only place I would say is more desolate than here in regards, to Deaf education and ministry opportunities... that I have experienced so far. I preached to about 20+ Deaf on Sunday, and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity and the fellowship. At least one of the Deaf men is Muslim. Not all are saved. The Deaf man who heads up this ministry needs training. He is 25 years old and starting the 11th grade. Great fellow! Just needs some training! Who will give it to him? LORD, SEND MORE LABORERS!
