Prayer Point: Since 1993, Samaritan’s Purse has delivered more than 113 million Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes gifts in more than 150 countries with nearly 10 million distributed last year alone. Prayerfully packed full of toys, school supplies, hygiene items, there is no limit to the ways a shoebox can show God’s love to a child overseas. The care of an individual or family extended to one specific child in need displays Jesus’ heart for the lost. Every box offers hope to a child and their family, many of whom are suffering in the midst of natural disasters, violence, and desperate poverty. In addition, many children who receive shoeboxes are given the opportunity to participate in our follow-up discipleship program called The Greatest Journey. Through 12 weeks of Bible lessons, facilitated by teachers we’ve trained in the local church, children learn what it means to follow Jesus and share him with others. So while what goes into the box is fun, what comes out is eternal. One simple gift-filled shoebox given in Jesus’ Name can multiply disciples, grow churches, and further God’s kingdom. Please pray for favor with governments and communities as shoeboxes are collected and distributed around the globe. Also for each boy and girl who receives a shoebox to accept the offer to become a child of God.
