Prayer: Ready, set, go! Ready - I feel like I often pray - TopicsExpress

Prayer: Ready, set, go! Ready - I feel like I often pray because we feel as though I need to let God know to get ready to move. In fact, He has been ready all along and my prayer says more about whether I am ready to finally let Him be God, than about Him. He is always ready and waiting to help. Set - Again, I tend to automatically pray with my own agenda or plan, asking God to do x, y and z, and often winding up disappointed. Actually, God is the God of best decisions, of beautiful outcomes, of Plan A. My perception of the answer isnt always His, and my default go-to prayer paradoxically asks for God to be in control whilst trying to hang on to control myself. Go - My prayer moves God not because my prayers have any power, but because my amen (which literally means so be it) is the final word that God, who is a gentleman and waits for permission before breaking in in His great power, needs in order to do what He does best. If you, like me more often than I would like to admit, come away from praying feeling more worried / concerned / unsure than before (or avoid praying altogether for the very same reasons), I would challenge you to ask yourself this: How are you praying today? Are you seeking your own answer or are you seeking Him? Prayer is not taking control (although it may seem that way, and does give God the green light to move), it is, in fact, surrendering all control over to God. P.S. Stop giving things to God then taking them back! #readysetgo #prayer #AlmightyGod #preachingtomyself
