Prayer Update From Israel (November 3, 2014) Rainbow touching the Temple Mount this past Saturday afternoon. OUR HOPE IS BASED ON THE PROMISES OF GOD. 1. ZEAL WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE: WARFARE OVER THE MOUNT INTENSIFIES. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of YHVH as the waters cover the sea (Isaiah 11:9). On the 20th of October we wrote of the intensification of violent confrontations on and regarding the mountain. Those confrontations have increased strongly during the past week. Last Sunday the Kingdom of Jordan warned Israel that its peace treaty with Israel-a treaty which was in fact made exactly 20 years ago last week-was under threat if Israel continues settlement construction-and if there is any change in the status quo on the Mountain. Primary within that status quo is the stipulation that only Muslims may openly pray there. Non-Muslims are allowed to visit the site at certain times most days, but Jews are expressly forbidden from praying-that is, they may not engage in the davening (repeated bowing) which outwardly characterizes Orthodox prayer, nor may they bring prayer books onto the mountain. Last Monday (and again at his Cabinet meeting this Sunday morning) Prime Minister Netanyahu sought to pacify Jordans fears by assuring them that there are no plans for making changes in the status quo on the Temple Mount (even though right-wing MKs have recently introduced legislation to have that law changed). A few hours after Netanyahus statement, Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah visited the al-Aqsa Mosque on the mountain, proclaiming that there will not be a Palestinian state without East Jerusalem as its capital. The following day Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat visited the Mount in order to gain a better understanding of issues and challenges. The Islamic Jordanian Waqf body, which administers the Temple Mount condemned what it called the storming of the mount by Birkat, calling it a blatant provocation. Then Wednesday evening an event was held at the Menachem Begin Heritage Center in Jerusalem called Israel Returns to the Temple Mount. This was an annual conference organized by a religious group called the Temple Mount and Eretz Yisrael Faithful Movement. Rabbi Yehuda Glick, a prominent right-wing activist who has become a symbol of the struggle to allow Jewish prayer on the mountain was one of the speakers. Having finished his speech, Glick came outside and as he was opening his car, he was approached by an Arab man dressed in black who asked if he were Yehuda Glick. When Glick responded that he was, the man drew a pistol and shot him four times in the chest, then leapt onto a motorcycle and made his escape. The following morning police traced the suspect to a building in nearby Abu Tor; when called to surrender he responded with gunfire and was killed. Yehuda Glick remains in very serious condition, having undergone surgeries with more to come. Glick also worked part time as a tour guide. With his head of bright red hair, he was known as a friendly man, brimming with stories, with a fanatic passion for one thing, one idea, which fulfills him-breaking the status quo on the Temple Mount (A fiery devotee on the Temple Mount: Opinion Op-ed; ynetnews 30 Oct 2014 10:40). Following the assassination attempt, Israel responded by closing the Temple Mount the next morning to all visitors including Muslims. This was the first time Israel has taken these measures in over ten years, and it brought immediate condemnation from Muslims all over the world, with President Abbas labeling the move a declaration of war and his faction Fatah on Friday calling for a Day of Rage to defend Al Aqsa. In the event, the Mountain was re-opened the next day for Friday prayers, and the Day of Rage failed to materialize, probably because of the heavy rains which drenched the city on that day. The Scripture heading this section (Isaiah 11:9) points us towards a day when the Temple Mountain will be a place from which violence and destruction will have departed because of the knowledge of the LORD having filled the earth. In Romans 10:2 Paul (Shaul) bears witness of his Jewish brothers that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. Today many, both Muslims and Jews, have a zeal after that Mountain-but it is a zeal based upon false or incomplete knowledge, resulting in the anger of man and violence. Believers are urged to be never lacking in zeal (Romans 12:11 NIV), but it must be based upon knowledge of the truth. Truth is in Yeshua (Eph. 4:21). In Galatians 1:13-14 and I Timothy 1:13-14, Paul speaks of his own former exceeding zeal after the traditions of his fathers-yet it was an ignorant zeal, not based upon a whole knowledge of the Truth-which Paul confesses resulted in blasphemy, persecution, insolence and destruction. TO PRAY: *As we see the religious zeal of men, peoples, even nations towards the Temple Mount rapidly increasing in fervency and in the direction of violent confrontation, we must ask God to inform our perspectives and opinions with His Truth, and to temper our emotions with His Holy Spirit-so that we may pray accurately and effectively in power and authority that His will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Psalm 25:1 says, To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul. And later, in verse 20, David asks, Guard my soul.let integrity and uprightness preserve me as I hope in You. Our emotions rise out of our souls which must be humbly submitted to divine control. Else they will be ignited by anything which challenges our opinions and fueled by pride. *Zechariah 2:14b: I am zealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with great zeal! Please pray for the Body of Messiah here in Jerusalem and Israel (and others He chooses around the world) that He will ignite and direct in us His zeal regarding the things which are precious to Him-including Jerusalem and the Holy Mountain. That we may pray His purposes over it-both for now and for the future. *For Yehuda Glick, that Gods mercies will preserve and heal him-and reveal more of the full knowledge of the LORD to him. Acts 18:24-28 tells of a certain Jew named Apollos who was mighty in the Scriptures and who was fiery in spirit in what he taught; yet there was a godly couple whom God brought into his life who took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately. Apollos went on to be a powerful voice in the kingdom. Pray that even through this crisis, Mr. Glick will be brought into a new and deeper understanding of why the Mountain he loves is so holy-of Who is the Lamb God saw when He brought Abraham there (Genesis 22:8 This weeks Parasha, See below). We are aware of this man, in his zeal to share his vision being present among believers in Jerusalem in the past, including even coming and joining into the worship times in a house of prayer in Jerusalem. Pray that angels who minister on behalf of those who will inherit salvation (Hebrews 1:14) will attend to him during his convalescence. FOR YOUR REFERENCE, WE REPEAT HERE FROM THE OCTOBER 20TH PRAYER UPDATE THE PRAYER POINTS REGARDING THE TEMPLE MOUNT. *For divine guidance for the Israeli government in administering the Temple Mount today. Pray for a realization that it is Holy, and true wisdom for its administration will require the Fear of the LORD and guidance from Above. *For protection and leading in Truth (Psalm 25:5) for the many believers from the nations and from right here in Israel who ascend the Mountain (some weekly) and move about on it praying Gods Kingdom Come! *For houses of worship and prayer about Jerusalem. We are aware of at least four which the LORD has raised up which have a physical view of the Mountain. Pray for the deep unction and inspiration of the Holy Spirit as they Exalt the LORD our god, and worship towards His Holy Hill-for holy is YHVH our God! (Psalm 99:9). *For the Kingdom of Jordan. The King of this land (which encompasses ancient Moab) considers himself to be a direct descendant of Mohammed, and a divinely chosen custodian of this Muslim holy site. Isaiah 25:10-12 predicts a profound humbling of the proud power (Islam?) represented by Moab/Jordan, a humbling under the Hand of the LORD which will take place on this mountain. *For revelation of Elohei-Yisrael-the Israel-God, who is the God of all the Earth-and of His Son to the thousands of Muslims who journey to worship on the Temple Mount. Pray Isaiah 25:6-8 (see below) over the veil of Islam which is spread over all nations-that its power will be broken on this mountain! And in this mountain the LORD of Armies will make for all people a feast of choice pieces, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of well-refined wines on the lees. And He will destroy on this mountain the surface of the covering cast over all people, and the veil that is spread over all nations. He will swallow up death forever, and Adonai YHVH will wipe away tears from all faces; the rebuke of His people He will take away from all the earth; for YHVH has spoken! (Isaiah 25:6-8) AND FROM LAST WEEKS OCTOBER 27TH UPDATE, REGARDING VIOLENCE IN THE LAND: * O righteous God, who searches minds and hearts, bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure (Psalm 7:9 NIV). * Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, breathing out violence (Hebrew: hamas; Psalm 27:12). * Confuse the wicked, O Lord, confound their speech, for I see violence and strife in the city. Day and night they prowl about on its walls; malice and abuse are within it. Destructive forces are at work in the city; threats and lies never leave its streets (Psalm 55:9-11). *For the security forces in Jerusalem to be led by integrity and self-control, and divine unction in dealing with the rioting. For he is Gods minister to you for good.but if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; he is Gods minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil (Romans 13:3-4). *That He who makes peace in His high places (Job 25:2), who strengthens the bars of the gates of Jerusalem, blesses her children within her, and who makes peace in Jerusalems borders (Psalm 147:13-14) would rise up and quiet the anger in the city. *For Jewish and Arab worshippers and intercessors joined with brothers and sisters from the nations whom God has positioned in houses of prayer about the city-that they would fill the heavenlies with praise, and be led by God in releasing His Word into the atmosphere over the City. *For Israel to turn to her God for security, who in this weeks Haftarah promises, Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look around you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you; Surely I will uphold you with my righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10). Martin & Norma Sarvis Jerusalem
