Prayer for Hyogo, July 29 Hyogo Prefecture and Kobe City have one of the best ratios of church to population in the nation, in spite of the fact that a number of these church buildings were damaged or demolished in the 1995 earthquake. Pray that the churches will continue to bring hope and help to the area. Pray for good fellowship and cooperation among the Kobe Missions Association and the prayer meetings by pastors and their spouses in western Kobe. Pray for the 362 students who are studying in the 12 theological schools in Hyogo. Pray that many will feel Gods call into full-time ministry. Pray for the 446 churches in Hyogo Prefecture that they will have a powerful witness throughout the area. There are about 10 churches here that were begun before 1900. The oldest is Kobe Union Church, which began in 1871 and has 150 members (Pictured here).
