Prayer of the Day: “Breaking the Cycle of Poverty to Build Peace” is the theme for the 2014 International Lasallian Days for Peace. Following the outcomes of the 3rd International Symposium of Young Lasallians, this year’s ILDP focuses on the movement to eradicate poverty, particularly as it affects access to nutrition and survival. The International Lasallian Days for Peace initiative runs through October 21. As Lasallians, we are encouraged to participate by engaging in and learning about issues related to fair trade, ethical retail practices, food consumption practices, and issues of hunger in communities. We also take time to pray for peace. God our Father, who sent down his only beloved son to restore peace on earth, as we begin these International Lasallian Days of Peace we ask that you please grant us peace not only in times of war but also with the everyday struggles of life. We pray especially for those whose daily struggle is to overcome the effects of poverty, as they seek wholeness through physical and emotional wellbeing. We ask these things through Christ our Lord. Amen.
