Prayer should be as natural to the follower of Christ as it is for the lungs to take in oxygen. In Acts 1:8, Jesus calls us to be His witnesses. We can begin with prayer. 1 Timothy 2:1 tells us to pray. “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people. Why pray? Verses 3 and 4 tell us why. “This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” We pray so people will come to know and grow in Jesus Christ. This is what God desires. What God desires becomes our desires as we connect to Him through prayer. In fact, we’ll begin to put action to our prayers. We will end up being His witnesses, using our lips and lives to point people to Jesus. It’s His plan. There is no other plan. So take a breath and pray. For the people around you who need Jesus. Splashing His grace on all you encounter.
