Prayers continue for the Owen Family. This lady was much more than a teacher. I can attribute my education success to her great investment. I first met her in the beginning of my 9th grade year as I started my high school Career married with a 5 mon old daughter. Ms Sandra Owen put her heart and soul into the Teen Parenting Program at Marion County High School. And I for one am eternally grateful. I was able to earn my diploma with a sense of independence and pride. We worked the day care ourselves as moms and shared the care of the children throughout the day. It left us feeling much more accomplished than if we were given a free ride through a standard day care. We felt invested. She served as a role model to guide and to teach. She was a friend, a coach, a cheerleader, as well as a disciplinarian. She was a great listener and a shoulder to cry on. She was a like a Nana to all our babies. We will never forget her investment into our lives. I benefited from her wisdom and so enjoyed being one of her success stories. I now have a Masters Degree in Nursing Administration and became an RN in 1996. My husband and I have been married for over 28 years. We have raised 5 daughters and are about to have our 5th grandchild. We began fostering 2 and a half years ago are working to adopt a sibling group of 5. My goal was to get my girls outta high school without babies of their own and thus far we have succeeded. Our Girls are all successful and productive, our oldest is a teacher as well. I wanted to be proof that this cycle of teen pregnancy doesnt have to repeat. Thank you Ms Owen for your love and dedication. It really mattered. May The Lord bless and keep your family throughout this great loss. May they feel the peace of our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
