Prayers welcomed.... First of all, thank you for all the kind words regarding the birth of our daughter, Leah! We have been blessed with a beautiful baby girl. Unfortunately, last night we hit a snag in our plan to go home today and live happily ever after. Yesterday evening, Leah began having some difficulty breathing. Ill try to make a long story short here. Leah has a spontaneous pneumothorax (hole in her lung). She was transferred to SJH Womens NICU at about 3am via their neonatal critical care ambulance, and weve been here ever since. Initially, the doctor thought she needed a chest tube, but for now they have evacuated the air via a needle aspiration, and are treating her with oxygen and IV fluids hoping the hole will be able to seal itself. She is definitely not working as hard to breathe since that, which is a great relief to us. We will see is shes making any real progress tomorrow morning after her next X-ray. We are remaining optimistic. She is in the right hospital for anything she needs, we have a wonderfully supportive family, and faith in God that he is always watching over her. In closing, wed like to say that everyone weve dealt with at both St. Joes North, and St. Joes Womens, has been nothing short of amazing and incredibly compassionate toward us. We are forever thankful for these very special people that deal with very sick children everyday!
