Pre #IMAZ 70.3 race report: Swim - went amazingly, well thanks to coach Nancy Kirkpatrick Reno and my XTERRA Wetsuits I went 32 min but thanks to a very slippery boat ramp, it took me (and pops Dave Ramoneda) a lot more time and effort than we thought to get to T1 (my bike:-) Bike - All was going great! I was pacing at exactly what coach Jenny Gatz and I are going for at AZ.... until mile 42 when I got a rear wheel flat... Aside from obviously the challenge of changing the flat: I lost time, momentum and of course my low back started to throw a fit. But, I got back on and road with a purpose to T2 (the run:-) in a time of 2:53. Run - T2 took a lot longer than I (and those watching my race) would have liked it to. At times stumpy cramps inside my cycling leg and he decided to because of the heat. With that comes a lot of discomfort putting on my running leg which is quite a tight fit. So, 5 minutes later I came out of the changing tent of T2 with an uncomfortable running gate. All that said, I felt great the whole run with a few guests including Challenged Athletes Foundation supporter Brian Baadte who joined me for the first 4-5 miles. The rest of the run I was all alone to deal with the 97 degree heat and ran a 1:56. All said and done, with a 5:32, Im right on target for my final race of the season. Thanks Challenge Rancho Cordova for putting on a great event! Looking forward to racing next year.
