Pre-Rally Get Together! Concerned Citizens for Sturgis (CCFS) - TopicsExpress

Pre-Rally Get Together! Concerned Citizens for Sturgis (CCFS) will have our annual pre-rally get together on Wednesday, July 31st at Roscoz’s Steak House. Starting time is 7:30 pm. Roscoz’s is located on the corner of Junction and Lazelle in Sturgis. Jay, the owner of Roscoz’s says he is happy to host this get together with a group of “like minded” people. Anyone who wishes to attend may do so. There is no cost unless you buy dinner or drinks. CCFS will be supplying appetizers! This will give us a chance to update everyone on any news that happens between now and the start of the rally. We all had a great time last year. Let’s make it even bigger this year. The legal action between Rushmore Photo and Gift (RPG) and Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, Inc. (SMRI) is still in the judges hands. There is nothing either side can do until we hear from the judge. He has no time limit to follow, so we do not know when anything is going to happen. After the report and recommendations paper came out we feel things are looking very, very good for RPG’s side! Brian from RPG reports that his sales are way up this year. Customers that SMRI had intimidated into not buying from him are back as well as many new ones. If you don’t want to worry about SMRI you can order souvenir products from Brian at RPG. I just got my South Dakota temporary sales tax license for this year’s rally. My number after the year 2013 is 0042. This means that there are now only 41 vendors that have been getting a tax license and selling at the rally longer than I have. When I first talked to SMRI about their licensing program I knew that something was fishy when Dean Kinney and Clint Brengle didn’t even know who the major vendors were at the rally. Of course, I later found out they didn’t care or need to know because they had given everything to Jerry at Hot Leathers and to Jim at Harley-Davidson to get them to switch sides. Our hope is when all the dust settles and the judge or jury makes their ruling that anyone and everyone can use the words “Sturgis” and “Black Hills” in conjunction with the rally as they had been doing for years before SMRI came along. I’m proud of everyone that has joined with CCFS in this fight. Hope to see you all in person at our get together at Roscoz’s. Join the fight to keep the words “Sturgis” and “Black Hills” free for all to use. Go to both concernedcitizensforsturgis.org and Facebook “Concerned Citizens for Sturgis” page. Our Facebook fan page is now over 1,000 friends. Please “like” us to get the latest news on our fight with SMRI. Thank you.
