Pre-Season News: Our new Tuesday night time trial series begins on Tuesday 1st October with a short 10km ride to help everyone ease back into the swing of things. The registration desk will be open from about 5.30pm and we aim to get the first riders away at 6.00pm prompt. The race will follow the usual course, starting at the Halswell end of the Old Tai Tapu Road and riders will turn on the straight stretch of road somewhere out the back :) The Committee is pleased to announce that Canterbury Time Trial Club is now fully affiliated to BikeNZ as a standalone cycling club. This means that CTTA members will be able to select CTTA as their club when they renew their RIDE CLUB or RACE licence this year (renewals available from 1 November). For insuarance reasons, all riders taking part in the CTTA will need a RIDE CLUB or RACE licence from BikeNZ (see bikenz.org.nz for details). Newcomers and non-members will be able to ride up to three SOCIAL rides at $10 per ride, but will need to obtain a BikeNZ licence and join the CTTA if they wish to continue racing after that. The Committe has been working hard to hold membership fees at the same level as last year. We usually set membership fees for our seson, which runs from October to March. However, it makes a lot of sense to adjust our membership year to match the BikeNZ annual licence (which runs from 1 January to 31 December). This is a bit technical, so I will send out a seperate newsletter with membership info this week. Our usual turn marshalls are not able to assist this year and we are looking for someone to work at the turn each week. This is a PAID role that requires TWO people and a car with a tow-ball. Duties include collecting the trailer (which is stored near the start), dropping off the cones for the start, setting up and manning the cones at the turn, then collecting all the gear and dropping the trailer back at the storage yard. You would need to be at the start about 5.30pm and would finish about 7.30pm every Tuesday til Christmas. Full training will be given. Please contact chch.time.trail@gmail for more information.
