Preaching or barking? A barker is a person whose job is to attract patrons to entertainment events such as a circus or funfair, by exhorting and wooing the passing public to incite listeners to attend. A barkers job is to sell the show. Much of what we consider to be preaching is really just barking. Come get your miracle. I have a special word from God just for you. Let me prophesy to you Step right up and be blessed. I could go on and on, but you get my point. Preaching is proclaiming without that which God has wrought within. Any preaching that is not based upon actual experience with the Lord is just barking. Satan is not afraid of us preaching the words of Christ. He is only afraid of us submitting to the authority of Christ, and bearing our own cross before Him. It cost nothing to preach about the cross on Sunday, but to preach from the cross of a crucified self-life requires us to daily empty ourselves of ourselves. This is why we can have so many preachers with so many churches and yet see no difference in the city they live in. Theyre just barking. You cant over the Kingdom of darkness with barking. You cant lay hands and heal with the sick with a bark either.
